So the trap of this collection is that if I buy on a sale the three individual synths that I want, let's say at 75 euros the piece, I will pay 225. The other alternative on desktop, XILS 3, it's also far from the exactitude of iVCS 3 But it's cool to have something that can be easily added in the workflow of Bitwig, without routing the audio between my Mac and my iPad. I'm mostly interested in the Buchla Easel, the VCS 3 and in this Yamaha CS-80.Īnd the VCS 3 has a much more accurate emulation in iOS, with the iVCS 3 app. This can be finally called a CS-80 emulation.Īnd now think that most of the old synthesizers included in the collection, sound as bad as the prior CS-80 version. The update of the CS-80 shows why I'm still reluctant, deciding if getting this.Ĭompare how it sounded prior to the update, something that suggested the sounds of the CS-80, but that it was far of being considered an accurate representation of the sound.Īnd listen to the new engine. I'm getting FM sound design right now so DX7v is serving it's purpose really well. I’m going to try and save some £s to update to v9 when Black Friday comes around though - by then I’m sure GAS will be hard to resist. The existing Prophet 5 warms up nicely when run through those fx too… I’m sure the new one is going to be much better - the new Roland synths from v8 do stand out - but I’m happy enough for now. I’ll use my iPad in IDAM mode to scratch my MS20 itch - the Korg iMS20 sounds pretty great put through my outboard EQ or one of the many ‘analogue’ colouring fx plug ins I have. ![]() I think it’s a good update but will wait as I don’t want to spend that kind of cash at the moment plus I am still far from bored with v8! Today, he ranks among the most popular and widely recorded of Baroque composers, second perhaps only to Johann Sebastian Bach, who himself was deeply influenced by Vivaldi's work. However, the Emperor died soon after Vivaldi's arrival, and Vivaldi himself died less than a year later in poverty.Īfter his death, Vivaldi's music slid into obscurity until a vigorous revival in the 20th century. After meeting the Emperor Charles VI, Vivaldi moved to Vienna, hoping for preferment. Beethoven, who composed in classical music’s Romantic era, absolutely revolutionised orchestral music with his Third ‘Eroica’ Symphony, writing music that captured the inner struggle of the individual alongside the sheer joy of life. Vivaldi also had some success with expensive stagings of his operas in Venice, Mantua and Vienna. Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) Beethoven’s name is widely interchanged with the phrase ‘greatest composer who ever lived’.And we’re okay with that. Many of his compositions were written for the female music ensemble of the Ospedale della Pietí , a home for abandoned children where Vivaldi (who had been ordained as a Catholic priest) was employed from 1703 to 1715 and from 1723 to 1740. His best-known work is a series of violin concertosknown as The Four Seasons. He is known mainly for composing many instrumental concertos, for the violin and a variety of other instruments, as well as sacred choral works and more than forty operas. ![]() Born in Venice, he is recognized as one of the greatest Baroque composers, and his influence during his lifetime was widespread across Europe. ![]() Antonio Vivaldi was an Italian Baroque composer, virtuoso violinist, teacher and cleric. ![]() Additionally, the Young’s modulus, bulk modulus, shear modulus and toughness are obtained by simulated ab initio tensile tests. With the decrease of Li concentration, the charge depletion in the bonding regions increases, indicating a weaker Co-O bond strength. Bond strength is also studied by investigating partial density of states and charge density difference. The observed lithium concentration dependence and anisotropy is explained by analyzing the charge transfer using Bader charge analysis. Strong anisotropy of mechanical properties between a-axis and c-axis in LixCoO2 is identified at low lithium concentrations, and the anisotropy decreases with increasing lithium concentrations. During lithium intercalation process, the Young’s modulus, bulk modulus, shear modulus and the ultimate strength increase with increasing lithium concentration. Zhang's team has a $20,000 grant from the IU Office of the Vice President for Research, along with a matching grant for student support from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the School of Engineering and Technology at IUPUI.The mechanical properties of LixCoO2 under various Li concentrations and the associated anisotropy have been systematically studied using the first principles method. "Copper is reusable and easy to clean, very affordable, and environmentally friendly." "I think this can be used on a daily basis while also being applied to other systems, such as air vent filters in buildings and airplanes, that require long-term use," Zhang said. Graduate students in Zhang's group, Xuehui Yang and Tejesh Dube, are also assisting on the project. Fellow collaborator Ryan Ford Relich, director of clinical microbiology and serology at Eskenazi Health, is helping in laboratory tests that will hopefully lead to a working prototype by October. Two approaches to creating that are using a green-laser metal 3D printer to directly reproduce the complex copper structure or, in an even more economical way to create the design, 3D-printing a plastic structure followed by electroplating, in which the 3D-printed plastic component is merged in a liquid solution full of copper ions and the ions are migrated and cover the surface under electric field.Ĭollaborator Jingzhi Pu, from the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology in the School of Science at IUPUI, is continuing to look at how copper ions deactivate the function of the virus using molecular dynamics simulations. In the prototype, a ring with V-shape "fins," an analogous structure to the gill filament, was designed to increase the surface area where air passes through more channels. "We know how nature works, so we had to figure out how we could make that into an artificial structure," said Zhang, whose research interests in 3D printing came into play. Gills allow fish to draw oxygen from water, and that design is incorporated into the prototype mask. The challenge was to find a structure that blocks out tiny aerosol particles while also providing proper ventilation for breathing, and nature had an answer - the gills on fish. "We can use copper plating to cover some frequently touched surfaces such as doorknobs and elevator buttons that inspired me to see how we could combine what looks like almost a magic metal into a mask design." Department of Defense, said that a copper alloy can kill 58 percent of infections," said Zhang, an associate professor in the Department of Mechanical and Energy Engineering. That's what Jing Zhang of the School of Engineering and Technology at IUPUI and a team of researchers are doing, using a copper coating on 3D-printed plastic filters to create more-efficient masks and respirators. So might copper be incorporated into the construction of masks, the universally accepted virus-fighting personal item? In the ongoing fight against COVID-19, experts on microbiology and copper are recommending an expanded use of the metal to reduce the virus's spread. As the rotisserie rotates, the outside cooks and thin pieces are continually shaved off. These immigrants cooked their thin cuts of meat stacked together in a cone-like shape on a vertical spit-grill, known as shawarma (one of my favs, coming soon!), much like Greek gyros. I am always fascinated by the origins of popular “authentic” food so I was surprised to learn the concept for Al Pastor was brought to Central Mexico by Lebanese immigrants in the early 1900s. The Al Pastor is sliced off the spit-grilled meat to-order in thin slices accompanied by chunks of fresh pineapple. The outside edges of the pork become beautifully crisp and caramelized while the inside remains splendidly juicy. If you aren’t familiar with Al Pastor, (meaning “shepherd style” in Spanish), it is a popular pork dish in Central America in which pork is marinated in pineapple, chilies and spices then stacked and vertically roasted on a slowly turning spit with a pineapple on top which bathes the pork with its juices. ![]() I hope this Al Pastor recipe joins the ranks of my Mexican Chicken, Salsa Verde Chicken, Carnitas, Chipotle Pork, Carne Asada, Beef Barbacoa and Chipotle Chicken as one of your favorite new Mexican protein staples. In fact, he had three teenage boys from our church youth group over to our house to eat the leftovers that night – and they ate ALL of it. He loved the Al Pastor as it was coming off the grill, he loved it as it was barely warm after photos and he loved it reheated the same night. My foodie critic husband (who loves Mexican food even more than me – which is barely possible) would agree. The combination of smoky, tangy, chile pork, with grilled pineapple is 1000X crave worthy so I knew I was up for a challenge to create a traditional al pastor tasting recipe that was homemade BUT, I think we have done just that and I can honestly say this is arguably one of the best homemade Al Pastor recipe out there. When we go out, I usually order it in some form or another from authentic Tacos Al Pastor to Ada Haba Pina California Burrito (burrito with Al Pastor, pineapple, French fries, sour cream, guacamole, cheese, etc.) to Al Pastor Nachos. This list compares store-bought low carb tortillas vs homemade low carb tortillas.I recently shared in my Al Pastor Kabobs post, that I am obsessed with Al Pastor. If you are aiming to lower the carb count, you can either omit the tortillas all together or you can use a lower carb tortilla. The other carb-heavy ingredient of course is the tortillas. Quince is not low carb either however, so use your preferred fruit. I think using the quince paste really elevated this dish and made it unique. I didn’t have any pineapple handy, and I needed to figure out how to use that quince paste that had been sitting in my pantry for so long, so this recipe uses quince paste instead of pineapple. I tried to come up with a low carb alternative to the pineapple but really it is such a classic addition to al pastor that it’s probably better to go ahead and use pineapple, but just use it more sparingly. In one cup of pineapple there are 22 grams of carbs and 16 grams of sugar. ![]() There is just no getting around how much sugar is in pineapple. The pineapple is a problem for low carb or keto people. Traditional tacos al pastor are marinated over pineapple slices and topped with fresh chopped pineapples. The recipe below has a “low-ish” carb count. Once you have decided on the meat for your tacos, why not lay it all out for guests or family in the style of a taco bar? you can go wild with Mexican accompaniments like avocados, pickled onions, different cheeses, radishes, cilantro, guacamole, etc. |
